Choose A Vendor

Selecting the proper electronic health record (EHR) software is only half of the battle when it comes to identifying which EHR system is best for your clinic. Practitioners need to examine the company they are buying their software from as well.

Clinicians should find a vendor who works with them every step of the way. A vendor's sole purpose should be to assist clinics on their journey towards a digital clinic.

A vendor should:

  • Identify that the software selected is the right fit for the clinic.
  • Offer advice as to what equipment to purchase in order to effectively implement their new EHR system.
  • Assist the clinic in the installation of the new software.
  • Provide proper access to training materials to help the staff easily understand and implement their new software to its fullest capabilities.
  • Give advice on the most effective way to transfer old paper records or information contained in other electronic sources into their new EHR system.
  • Standby the clinic as they prepare to go live.
  • Offer or advise clinics as to the best way to ensure their patient data is protected through some form of data backup service.
  • Supply updates and technical support to the clinic every step of the way.

Additionally a vendor should also listen to its consumers. If a consumer needs additional functionalities from their software the vendor should be willing to take those suggestions into consideration.
