Get Connected

After the clinic has selected their software and hardware devices it is now time to select how these components will work together. Creating a network upon which all these devices function is what creates the integration between the different departments of the practice and greatly improves the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the clinic.

It is easiest to seek professional assistance, either from an independent IT company or through the EHR vendor in order to determine which type of network the clinic would need. This decision is often based on:

  • Location of the Practice
  • Interconnectivity Requirements
  • Selected Hardware Devices
  • Chosen EHR Software

These professionals are best suited at helping your practice plan and install the required equipment (routers, hubs, cables, etc.) into your practice. While it is possible to setup and install a network independently, you must remember this network will be the foundation upon which the EHR system is run. Therefore it is of vital importance the network be setup and installed correctly to avoid any unforeseeable problems in the future.
